About Us
Dear Birthmother,
You are a brave woman because you are choosing to give your child life and a home when you could have chosen another path. We are so thankful for your bravery and love for your baby, and we are honored that you are taking the time to read our profile. We pray that as you read through our profile and others, that the Lord would fill you with peace and give you wisdom as you make the difficult and important decision about who you want to raise your baby.
Why Adoption

In April 2008, we felt that it was time for us to try to begin our family. We had been married since November 2005, and it felt like a good time to add children to our family. However, things didn’t go as planned. By the next year, we still had not gotten pregnant, and our doctor could find no reason why. Fertility treatments were suggested, but neither of us felt comfortable with that option. After much prayer and talking, we felt that God was using our infertility to lead us to adopt our first child. In August 2009, we began the process of adopting our son Duncan from Uganda. After a long and hard year of waiting, we brought him home in October 2010. Since adopting Duncan, we knew we would want to have more children – through birth and adoption. We especially feel it is important to have another child in our family who is African American for Duncan.
Kyle grew up in Birmingham, Alabama, until attending college in Jackson, Tennessee. After graduating from college, we moved to Wheaton, Illinois, for Kyle to begin graduate school at Wheaton College. While living in Wheaton, we fell in love with the city of Chicago and dreamed of one day living and doing ministry in the city. After graduate school, we moved back to Birmingham for two years, but the Lord graciously answered our prayer to live in the city, and we moved to Chicago in the fall of 2010. Kyle has been given the wonderful opportunity of working as a pastoral resident at Holy Trinity Church with the hopes of becoming a full time pastor in the next year. He is also enjoying his work at Starbucks, and we are both thankful for the amazing benefits Starbucks has provided for our family! Kyle’s favorite activities include reading (anything he can get his hands on), spending time enjoying the city with his family, and preaching and teaching the Bible to others. He is an amazing father and husband. I feel so blessed to have him in my life!
Toria grew up in Martin, Tennessee, until heading to the big city of Jackson, Tennessee, for college. She still retains her small town southern accent! Toria was a special education major in college, and she taught elementary students with special needs for four and a half years. Though she enjoyed teaching, her biggest dream was to one day stay home with her children. When Duncan came home in October 2010, Toria became a homemaker. She loves being home every day with Duncan. She has turned into quite the cook and enjoys making homemade, healthy, and delicious meals for her family. Toria is thrilled about adding more children to our family and wants Duncan to have many siblings! Her favorite activities include cooking and baking, singing and dancing with Duncan, and riding bikes with the family!
